Located on a quiet side street just off the main hustle of Downtown Madrid is the AC Hotel Recotelos; a Marriott property.
On a recent business trip I had the opportunity to spend a night in Madrid. Given that I had a limited amount of time in the city, I wanted a hotel near the airport but within walking distance to the amazing city attractions. These guidelines led me to the AC Hotel Recoletos.
A small, beautiful hotel located in Calle de Recoletos just steps from the main streets of Calle de Serrano and Calle de Alcala as well as the famous Puerta de Alcala.
The car service drove right up to the small but elegant hotel entrance that sits 6 feet from the main road. Immediately I was greeted by the Bellhop who assisted me with my luggage as cars quickly piled up behind the vehicle dropping me off.
As a Marriott Platinum member they were aware and prepared for my arrival. I was greeted by name and while I was checking in my luggage was taken to my room.
Upon completion of the check-in process, the front desk clerk notified me that I had received a courtesy upgrade to the hotel main suite. She was very courteous, helpful and also informed me of a jazz event occurring that same night at the hotel. She offered to save me a table which I immediately accepted.
As I made my way to my room, I crossed paths with the Bellhop who had already dropped off my bags in the suite.
I opened the door and was pleasantly surprised with the modern yet classical style of the suite. The first living area had the dining and living room.
As you walked into a small hallway, the door to the left took you to a very large bedroom with king size bed, large TV and a wall-to-wall closet.
The suite also featured two balconies; one from the living room and another from the bedroom.
The door on the right took you to the beautiful bathroom which had a glass double sink, shower and bathtub.
I lived in Europe for two years, have travelled in Europe for the past twenty years and the AC Hotel Recoletos is one of the best hotel experiences I have had in Europe. It is well situated; the rooms are large and the rates are very reasonable. It is highly recommended if you’re visiting Madrid.
